This powerfull and surprising exhibition by Mexican photographer Diana Castelán Silva shows us the world of amateur wrestling in Mexico. Texto en español abajo.

A bakery, a car wash, the facade of a church or a market become setting for a ring which begins the metamorphosis of a man that during day may be a traffic cop, a paramedic, or a professor; or a woman who is a mother or student; who vents in the ring all that adrenaline, anger and excitement, the endless struggle between good and evil.

Filmmaker Adolfo Estrada Vargas will give a presentation on Mexican Wrestling and its influence on Mexican popular culture previous to the opening.

But these differences in this wrestling are resolved only on the ring before anything and out of this, ther is a strong handshake and a great respect in this guild which turns part of “one family”.

Mexican wrestling is a variation and combination of diferents styles such as Classic Wrestling, Greco Roman, Grappling Technique, Clinch Fighting , Air, and even High Impact Extreme, of course as a result mixtured with part of our own folklore like wearing masks with motifs of ancient cultures, animals, goods, or influence of heroes.
